Streaming down again

I’m sorry to report that our streaming system is down. We had a power outage early on Saturday morning which took our computers down. We have the computers back up, the transmitter on, and we are broadcasting over the air. But the streaming computer is being uncooperative.

I will have it up and running as soon as possible.

Streaming is Broken

We have some problem with our streaming server. I believe it started mid-day on Friday.

Thanks for your patience while we try to get things sorted out and working again.

If you feel inclined to help, please make a contribution to our operating funds.

H Street Sledding Record

One of our listeners asked if we could play this popular contemporary Christmas story by Ron Carlson.

As you know, nearly all of our regular content is obtained from librivox.org and is in the public domain which means it is free to us (and to you).  That gives us a tremendous body of classic literature to draw from.

For the contemporary story, we had to seek out the copyright holder and obtain permission to play it on our station.  Thanks to Mr Carlson and his agents Brandt & Hochman Literary Agents, Inc.  for making that possible.

It has been a good exercise for us.  We hope to be able to bring you a few more modern works as the months go by, while still broadcasting the best of the classics.

“H Street Sledding Record” will play once each day for the week prior to and including Christmas Day.

Recent Streaming Troubles Now Resolved

We found out yesterday that our ISP service difficulties were caused by a hardware failure.  Because of very cold and windy weather, the repair people were not able to access the faulty device until today.

They have now fixed the problem and our streaming is back on line.

Looking at our streaming data figures, I can see that our numbers have been down for about a week.  Possibly the development of this failure was discouraging our listeners.

I hope you will give us another try now that the infrastructure is repaired.
